For the Week of 4/19-4/23

Monday, April 19, 2010
Dear Families,

Just a reminder that we're doing cat testing this week so please remember:

No homework all week (we'll be doing other work in class but not sending it home)

Students please be on time, rested, and well-fed in the mornings

Bring a book to read when tests are done and water or a drink to have during tests to limit interruptions

AUTHOR'S FAIR:

We'll be working on these in the afternoons this week. We'll write them in class and type them at home. Next week on Tuesday (the 27th) the final typed drafts are due so we can then do illustrations and make the covers. Final typed drafts should be short half pages (top half left blank for illustrations) and should be at lest 4 half pages (students will be explained all of this). The fair itself will be the following Saturday, May 1st at the Captola Mall.

Thanks! Nora

Monday - April 12th

Dear Families,

Welcome back students!

The next couple weeks, along with our regular curriculum we'll be working on our stories for the Young Author's Fair (to be held on Saturday, May 1 at the Capitola Mall). These will be individual story books plus a collective poetry book that will be finished mostly in class.

Next week is Cat testing all week, there's no preparation for this, it's a standardized assessment of what Fourth graders know. The other work and homework will accommodate test times.

Our next field trip is to the Roaring Camp in Felton (train ride!) on Friday, May 7th.

Homework for tonight:

Math (54 has Investigation 9)

Spelling 31 (finish all four pages)

Thanks! Nora

Welcome to the 4th Grade at Aptos Academy!
